Hey, comic book followers, anyone got any good intel on Avengers Academy and Runaways?
I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about the former, and though I told myself from the get-go that I’d probably never get into it because I knew almost none of the characters in the story line (I wasn’t an avid fan of the New Warriors and the Avengers before), I’ve seen a few comic page grabs that seem really interesting. Is the story line any good? It ties in with Fear Itself, eventually (I know because I skimmed through the event and remember seeing a few issues of the series along the way), so I guess it’ll be cool to kinda see what happens. I didn’t enjoy the New Mutants tie-in, though. I’m not a huge fan of Dani Moonstar, and it sort of centered on her.
The latter, on the other hand, I’ve read some story lines about. They’ve tied-up with the Young Avengers twice (Civil War and Secret Invasion), so I’ve had some pretty decent exposure to the characters. I looked them up, and man, they’re already three volumes in! That’s about sixty comic books to catch up on! I’ve got a friend who told me the story’s a really interesting read, so I don’t really mind. What’s kinda getting me, though, is how they’ve got more published issues than the Young Avengers. Three volumes and sixty-two issues, compared to YA’s one volume and twelve issues. It’s way unfair, don’t you think? HAHA I’m such a YA fanboy, I’m sorry.
