I headed out for work this morning, our preliminary PortWise training had finally pushed through. What was more special about today, though, were my new Space Invader dress socks! They made me feel like such a kid, that despite being all choked up in my corporate clothes, a part of me was still in touch with the kid I wish I still really am.
I’m enjoying everything about my job, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that sometimes, in going about my work and trying so goshdarn hard to impress everyone around me, I become someone so different that even I don’t recognize myself. Every time I crossed my legs today, and my slacks rode up my legs, I’d see the colorful aliens hovering above my leather shoes. It was always so comforting :)
I have a few other pairs of kiddy dress socks, and after today, I’m really excited to wear them, especially on days I anticipate to be extra stressful.
