Comic Book Wednesday. Not much on this week’s Pull List, Marvel-wise. Looks like the good ones are exhausted, and just bracing for February. Definitely grabbing X-Men Legacy #261, though. Rogue + Gambit + Iceman = huge no-brainer. I immediately fell in love with it after last week’s .1 release.

Over on the DC corner, the remaining #5s of the New 52 are set to ship. Out of the fourteen or fifteen releases, though, I’m only grabbing the above three. I’ve been thisclose to dropping everything else in DC besides these three, but the other story lines continue to be interesting enough, thankfully.

The Justice League’s finally complete and together, united by a common threat, the root of all that’s been running amok since #1, Darkseid. As well, the Justice League Dark’s finally complete, but still hardly together. Even far apart, all seem to be united by one goal: to bring the witch, Enchantress, down. I’d like to think they’ll finally come together this issue. Story-wise, character-wise, and art-wise, Justice League Dark beats Justice League by a landslide, in my opinion. I’m enjoying it a lot more.

It must be the month of being complete and coming together as a team because the Teen Titans story line is pretty much in sync with the previous two, save for Skitter being a total flake, and Superboy continuing his rampage against the team. I saw a few page-grabs, and man, I’m really loving the whole BFF thing between Miguel and Kiran. I’m really psyched to read the rest of the issue :D

(I’m on hiatus, but there’s always time for) Comic Book Wednesday. Not much in my Pull List this week, sad to say. The stories in these six comic books are pretty great though, besides X-Men Legacy, which I’m just trying to get into now, with the retarded, albeit pretty helpful, .1 release this week. The series’ main characters are freaking Rogue, Gambit, and Iceman! It’s so perfect, it would make Pink proud :)

Batgirl, Batwoman, and Wolverine and the X-Men, I’ve just been lazily breezing through. The artwork is amazing (especially Batwoman’s), and the stories seem interesting, but being the ever lazy 10-year-old-on-the-inside reader that I am, I tend to just look through the pictures and guess what’s going on rather than read through what they’re all actually saying. This is mostly why reading comic books (as opposed to reading real books) works for me. So if a series gets to hold on to my attention enough to read through more than fifteen of its issues, it’s a really good sign that the book’s worth a shot.

I’ve been reading through Superboy, and if I remember correctly, he just faced-off with the meta-teenage delinquents from the previous issue, and then just felt generally compelled to do what was right (which was saving some guy from falling off the nth floor of the building, if I’m not mistaken). I’m only honestly holding on to the story because I love Superboy. The story should really pick up the pace, in my opinion.

X-Factor Investigations, on the other hand, is one of the few series I’ve fallen so in love with. I really hope the series keeps going. It’ll be the first issue to tie-in with Regenesis, so I’m really excited to see the exchange between Wolverine, Havok and Polaris, and the rest of X-Factor, especially now, after the supposed death (I really think they’ll manage to bring him back to the normal reality soon) of Madrox. I’m really glad they ended up siding with Wolverine.

Kinda sucks that the New Mutants sided with Cyclops, though… He’s a total major wuss.

(A Day Passed) Comic Book Wednesday (Again). I was supposed to write about this yesterday, but since I opened the DC website ahead of the Marvel website to grab comic book covers, I sort of lost my apetite. I’m really starting to lose interest in the DC reboot. I was never really a DC fan to begin with, so this isn’t coming as much of a shock to me. On this week’s DC Pull List were the #4s of Birds of Prey, Blue BeetleNightwing, Redhood and the Outlaws, Supergirl, and Justice League. I haven’t started reading any of them (or most of their #3s for that matter), but I’ve got more than enough time during the Christmas break to do exactly that, so I’m not really rushing myself.

On this week’s Marvel Pull List are X-Factor #229, Uncanny X-Force #19, Wolverine and the X-Men #3, and Avengers #20. Not to spoil or anything (because we all know how fickle deaths of main characters can be in comic books), but Madrox died in X-Factor, a story line I’m hoping guessing is just there to confuse readers because he’ll really turn out to be alive, Angel sort of died in X-Force (he should have really just died died to increase the drama in the story, in my opinion), and Thor died in Avengers (during the Fear Itself event). X-Force goes into Regenesis in this issue, while Factor follows suit in January with #230. Polaris and Havoc rejoin the team, too. It’s something I really psyched for. They’ll all be back together!

As for Wolverine and the X-Men… well, it’s alright, I guess. They’re not making a huge fan of me, which is sad because I am totally in love with all the mutants that chose to side with Logan. I guess it’s just one of those comic books that get better eventually. To stick around and see it improve, or to drop and just catch up in a few months? Hmm.

(A Day Past) Comic Book Wednesday. I wasn’t feeling up to it yesterday, but since tonight ended pretty early, and I’m anything but tired or sleepy, I decided now would be a sort of good time to get into the whole Comic Book Geek mood.

At this point, I’m really just holding on to some of the DC franchises because I want to keep an even number between it and Marvel. I’ve been slowly losing interest in the Bat-family story lines. I’ve dropped everything with Batman in the title, Detective Comics (which basically revolves around Batman), and Batwing. I’m only forcing myself to continue reading Batgirl and Batwoman because the stories are still mildly interesting, leaving Nightwing, Red Hood (and his Outlaws), and Red Robin (and his Teen Titans) the only remaining Bat-family entries in my Genuinely Interested In list. I’m really enjoying Superboy, though, so this week in DC isn’t going to be that bad.

Marvel, on the other hand, keeps dishing out pretty amazing story lines. Uncanny X-Force delayed shipping by a week, which means the Dark Angel Saga only concluded yesterday. I have the comic book right now, and I’m fighting every bit of temptation to just get this post over with and begin reading. Also, with the news about the X-Men vs. Avengers event in 2012 that will usher in the return of the Phoenix Force, a mini-series prelude to the event, Avengers: X-Sanction, began shipping yesterday. It tells about how Cable basically set in motion the entire 2012 event, which also ties in with the Scarlet Witch/Young Avengers story line that’s currently occurring in Avengers: The Children’s Crusade.

Other franchises that seem pretty interesting are Carnage, U.S.A. (I really miss Carnage. My brother was really into Spiderman when he was young, so I was always up to date with stories about Carnage, Shriek, Vulture, and other Spidey villains. I’m looking forward to see where he is now after all these years), and Magneto: Not A Hero.

Comic Book Wednesday. This week is going to be probably one of the most exciting ones for me with Marvel. After waiting for days upon days, three of the franchises I follow are releasing issues today! Funnily, they’re also the namesakes of the first three comic book franchises I ever read and followed as a kid, way back in the early 90’s (thanks to my equally comic-crazed parents): X-Men, X-Factor Investigations, and Uncanny X-Force.

Marvel’s also releasing new franchises that seem pretty interesting. I’m probably going to get their #1s, then see how it goes from there. I’m not much of a fan of any of the characters involved, but the story lines seem pretty legit.

Also, for anyone interested (which is practically none of my followers, I believe), there’s going to be a live kick-off for the Avengers vs. X-Men franchise (set to ship in April 2012) this afternoon, 3PM EST at http://new.livestream.com/marveluniverse. The franchise ties up with the return of the Phoenix. Exciting stuff :)

(This is probably the most boring) Comic Book Wednesday (ever). I blame it on the fact that November was long enough to accomodate five Wednesdays. DC’s not releasing anything from The New 52 (i.e. nothing interesting), and all Marvel’s got up its sleeve this week for me is Uncanny X-Men #2. And since the geek inside me sided with Wolverine after the Schism (obviously, I mean, he’s got X-Force and X-Factor behind him, not to mention, Iceman, Rogue, and Gambit), I’m not really all that psyched to read. It will be a good read, though, hopefully.

I’mma just try to catch up with Uncanny X-Force. I have all of them in my stash. I’ve just been either too busy or too lazy to catch up. The storyline’s pretty good, though, so maybe. But meh, I think they killed Apocalypse too soon.

Comic Book (finally on a) Wednesday. This week in comics is very exciting for me. For one, it rounds my list up of the franchises I’ve (currently) decided to follow in DC’s The New 52. To make things even better, Justice League Dark and Teen Titans are two of my absolute favorites in the line-up. Superboy rounds up my Top 3.

On an even more exciting note, Johnny Storm a.k.a the Human Torch is coming back to life in this week’s Fantastic Four #600! Holy smack. I’d told people how depressed I was about how the casualty in Fantastic Four turned out to be Johnny, but now that they’re bringing him back, I’m a really happy camper. Also this week in Marvel, Wolverine and the X-Men #2. Really, really exciting stuff.

All you normal, non-geeky people are missing out on so much.

Comic Book (not really a) Wednesday. Ever since Young Avengers arrived in the mail a few days ago, I’ve been pretty focused on it, and much to my dismay, I am now done with all twelve issues. I tried my best to keep it at one comic book a day, but what’s a boy to do? That said, compounded by my losing interest in many of the rebooted franchises, I’ve been neglecting The New 52 for quite some time. I’ve missed two weeks’ worth of releases, but worry not, I’m working on getting me a copy of the ones I still like, to be read over the weekend.

Sadly, the current list of released #3s that I’ll continue to follow has been cut down to just these three. Gonna be following around ten more, to be released in the coming days.

Comic Book Wednesday. In true Migo fashion, I completely forgot about Comic Book Wednesday again. Let’s hope Comic Odyssey still has the comic books I want tomorrow, or whenever I manage to drag my lazy ass to the mall.

I’m back to updating myself weekly with Marvel, many thanks to the Schism story line. X-Men #20, Uncanny X-Men #1, and Heroes for Hire #1.

Over on the DC side, I continue to keep up with some of the newly rebooted franchises, though the number I follow has dropped drastically over the weeks. I’ve dropped several already, putting my initial count of 36 down to less than 20. With how things are turning out, I’m looking to reduce that number further, at least until I find the solid collection I’m really, really into. Animal Man #3, Action Comics #3, Detective Comics #3, and Justice League International #3.

Comic Book Wednesdays. Totally missed it this week, though, as I have been all month. I’ve been catching up, though. Slowly. Probably one to two comic books a night. I’ve cut down drastically on the franchises I’d decided to follow when The New 52 began, mostly because I am, after all, the same old lazy reader I always was. My parents and siblings joke that they wish I was as avid a reader of books as I am with comic books, but truth be told, I’m not that proactive when it comes to the latter either.

Having been reintroduced into the comic-verse, years after I read my last comic book (Marvel’s Civil War), through Flashpoint and The New 52, I inevitably felt a closer affinity to the DC franchise (even after a lifelong patronage to Marvel). I even pseudo fell out of love with Marvel because of how simple it felt to read DC instead. But alas, given the right dosage of Marvel, all was back to normal.

Besides the DC #2’s I’m currently waiting for (pictured above), and the others in my external hard drive, Marvel’s Dark Reign, X-Factor Investigations, Wolverine and the X-Men, and Young Avengers Vol. 1 and 2 are just waiting to be read. All I need now is a little more free time on my hands.

The long-ass weekend seems like the perfect opportunity for exactly that.
