I literally LOL’d. How did I not see this coming? They’re totally gonna get along. Sarcastic, cynical, all it really needed was for both of them to be in the same room. Really enjoying this one. Having The Runaways here brings two of my four favorite teen teams together. Throw in the Young Avengers and we’re golden

Been reading a lot these past few days. It’s been great stress relief, and God knows I need all the stress relief I can get my hands on. Sad thing is, I’m catching up with the current series in just one more issue. I’m suddenly thinking I should have put off reading this comic a little while longer, if only to give me more stuff to read when I finally get into it.

I regret nothing, though. Reading the series couldn’t have come at a better time.

Way too many feels in this one. Speedball quits, Justice quits, Veil quits. Why do they have to do this to me? Who’s gonna be Striker’s BFF now that you’re leaving, Veil? :c

Such a depressing issue. I hope she comes back in the future. I hope they all do.

I never really got to give this series a shot before, despite having gotten hold of every issue of the series to date (which isn’t much, they’re currently on 028), and I’m glad that I finally did. The series kicks off after the Dark Reign event where Norman Osbourne rises to national power after replacing Tony Stark as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

During his run with power, Norman Osbourne took several seemingly powerful teenagers and tortured (most of) them to try and unleash their maximum potential. As soon as Osbourne is finally dethroned and taken into custody, Dr. Hank Pym (a.k.a. Wasp) decided to take some of these teenagers under the false pretense that he had chosen them because they had the greatest potential of becoming superheroes.

The six very distraught and incredibly troubled teenagers find out early on that they were chosen because they had the greatest potential of becoming super villains. The series follows these six students and their equally-troubled professors as they figure themselves out, have their moral compasses shattered every which angle they looked, and just generally try to get through the day alive.

I’m particularly fond of Veil, the meek, mild-mannered trouble-maker (though silently nurturing a very strong thirst for revenge) who’s got the power to turn into any type of gas she wants, and Striker, the fame-hungry, electricity-manipulating loudmouth who just needs to have the last say about anything.

Definitely a must-read. They crash with the Runaways in the most recent issues, something I’m more than excited to read about.

This is why my love for Bunker is infinite, always so full of optimism and genuine love for anything that moves. You’d think Skitter would go berserk on anyone who tried talking her out of anything short of destruction while in her rampaging spider state. And she would, except on Miguel, apparently. He’ll keep this team together, I can already feel it.

I really do believe that Miguels all around the world are just natural charmers.

It’s just the way it is :)

Yes, my pets, comic books are back! The past few weeks have been really busy, and we’ve been managing quite well. To keep up with the pace, some things sort of had to take the back seat, those things being most of our free-time-fillers-turned-hobbies-and-interests. For Melissa, it was obviously her newfound love for yoga. She started going in December to pass some time, and from there, got quite addicted to it. Last I heard, she could squeeze in three to four yoga classes into her schedule everyday!

For me, well, it was a couple of trivial things, like my backlog of unwatched TV shows, my current 365 (which I’ve been debating endlessly with myself about just shutting down), and my comic book library that hasn’t been updated in well over a month. I started pulling issues again, and let me tell you, stopping for an entire month can do wonders for your collection. You end up just reading issue after issue without having to pause, unlike before. In a very weird way, these bad boys make me feel like everything’s gonna be alright. All we need now are superpowers! :(

And this duo, I totally ship it. I think they should do more stories together ♥

I’m really loving Poison Ivy’s new look. A lot less “look, I’m a whore”, a little more “I’m one with nature, just as my character design should have been all along anyway.” Her green eyes are definitely a plus.
The issue was pretty awkward, though. Seemed all over the place, and I can only guess that that was the intention. That the team was where they were when the issue started was jarring for them must have been the same reader response the writers expected. And then it just ends abruptly. I wished they’d given even the slightest clue as to what had happened to cause all the confusion, because really, the whole issue was one big ball of what now?
Now I have to wait for a month to find out. Oy vey.

The back and forth between these two will be forever priceless. You gotta admit though, GL, that was pretty lame.

The whole issue was kinda soddy. It’s probably not the right word, but that’s kinda what it felt like to me. The events seemed rushed and uninspired, none of them had any real big-ticket lines, and when the issue ended, you’re just left thinking eh?

The whole Batman/GL talk seemed totally out-of-place, too.

While choosing which of the Regenesis storylines I was going to follow, New Mutants was one of the first that got the axe. For one, I wasn’t really that familiar with any of the main characters’ origins and history. None of them seemed interesting at the time, so it was an easy comic to ditch. I was following so many others already.
Recently, though, there have been quite a number of New Mutants-related posts from my comic book followees, and they’ve unexpectedly done a pretty good job at arousing my interest. So here I am, giving the comic book a shot. The storyline seems pretty intense from the get-go so I doubt I’m gonna be letting go of this one soon. We’ll see.
Besides, I’ve already caught up with every other comic book series I’m following. It’ll be good for me to start reading something new in the meantime :)

My morning’s been pretty idle, so as soon as the lunch break came around, I decided to continue reading. Knowing that members of the team are gonna be dying eventually is making me feel bad about loving their team dynamic so much. This totally blows.
Long way to go. Ninety more issues. But then again, what’s the rush, really? I think I’m going to thoroughly enjoy this one, for a change. Besides, lots of really exciting issues are coming out tomorrow, c/o Marvel. DC, not so much.
