I think I regret going through Tumblr to look for a decent Shameless-related GIF to use for my post. I just basically had the entire restoftheshow spoiled by way of GIF photosets. All one hundred and one of them. And I’m only on Episode 1! Oy vey. Anyway. Currently Watching: Shameless (US), Episode 1 The show’s a very family-centric show, and I’m a real sucker for shows like this. It’s about a drunkard father and how his children manages to live their day-to-days on their own, and not the “we’ll all get into drugs and make the rest of our lives miserable because our parents gave up on us” type of crap. The show’s about a very well-bonded family, surprisingly, and it’s nice to see how they all help each other out with stuff like bills, relationships, school, personal problems. And it couldn’t come at a better time. The weekend’s (finally) upon me, and I’ve just finished catching up with Game of Thrones. I saw a couple of posts about this on Tumblr (which is how I usually ever find new shows, movies, or music these days), and decided to give it a shot. I fell in love with it almost immediately. I’ll have something to keep me company this weekend, thankfully. (Source: stilesderek) Currently Watching: Mean Girls This show just never gets old. Besides the fact that it’s practically the foundation that Tumblr’s built on (with almost every other line in the show having its own meme), the story’s pretty good, and the characters are easily likable. And Amanda Seyfried. I rest my case. (Source: greeciepops) Currently Watching: Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008) A post about Resident Evil popped up on my Dashboard early this morning, and I’ve been pretty much engrossed in it all day. Over the years, I got to play 2, 3, 4, and 5, but managed to finish none of them. It gets long and boring, and I’m like, I just wanna shoot me some zombies, bitch! No more puzzles and riddles, and making the game complicated. I reached the farthest in 4, probably because it was the easiest. I don’t know. Well anyway, I read through the Resident Evil Wiki over lunch as sort of a refresher course. I looked through the long list of games in the franchise and all the movies they’ve produced, and turns out, I’ve seen all but this. I really think Claire deserves a little more game-time, though. She pretty much disappeared after Resident Evil 2. This CGI film features her and Leon. It’s pretty good :) Currently Watching. I am really thankful to the people I follow. When the going gets tough, they’ve always got some pretty sleek ideas up their sleeves. I got the idea to get past few movies I’ve been watching from posts scattered on my Dashboard. Coraline, Kick-Ass, and now, The Help. I’m probably going to download My Sister’s Keeper, but since pretty much everyone calls it a cryfest, I’ll probably have to think twice about it. Nonetheless, The Help seems pretty good. So far. And hey, Emma Stone’s in it, and with an accent. That’s definitely a plus. Anyone know if this movie’s gonna turn out to be a cryfest towards the end? Currently Watching. I’ve forgotten how much I loved this movie. I saw several pictures and GIFs of Coraline on my Dashboard yesterday, so I figured I’d get it and watch it again. Reading the book is on next year’s bucket list. Low priority, obviously. I haven’t read a book in ages, so I figured, why not start again by reading a book of one of my favorite movies (which is probably one of the worst reasons to read a book), right? It’s by Neil Gaiman, how can I even go wrong? I’ve read a whole lot of his Marvel, DC, and Vertigo comic books and graphic novels. Pretty much the same thing, right? Anyway, back to my show. How have your days been going? :) |

inged: The Woman in BlackI had a really great time tonight. Spontaneous, as always, as long as it’s with Mik and Rica. I wasn’t supposed to join them, seeing that the movie they were watching was going to start at 8:30PM in Eastwood. My mass ended at 7PM, and since we were going to have a family dinner after, I knew I wasn’t gonna make it in time. Mik called a few minutes after dinner to tell me that the movie’d been moved to 9PM, and at Shang instead. Besides the new time that definitely fit my schedule more, Shang was a lot closer and on-the-way to where we were coming from, so with permission, I was on my way to meet him and Rica.
It was fun watching with those two. Rica’s a combination of easily frightened and easily surprised, as am I, and Mik just usually feeds off the general atmosphere, making the little trio of ours one loud, curse-throwing bunch of scaredy cats. With the littlest sudden loud noises or sudden apparitions of the woman in black, the movie house was filled with our screams, curses, and the laughter than resulted from it.
It wasn’t the scariest movie I’d seen, but being around those two sure made it feel like it was. I came out to be the least cowardly in the group, which says a whole lot given how easily I scare.
A few things, though. I couldn’t hack how Daniel Radcliffe had a kid of his own in the story, being an adult amongst other adults who were clearly half a lifetime older than him. I also don’t understand why the woman in black just kept screaming whenever they’d show her! It was like, okay, we get it, you’re hurting, but what’s with all the screams and shrieks? You’ll understand it when you watch it.
It had a pretty good ending, but in the most twisted way possible. And just a heads up, if you’re already covering both your ears, and struggling to keep only a slit between your fingers as an eyepiece while watching the last scene like we were, she doesn’t scream. I promise. A part of me was hoping she would, even just to elicit a loud oh my god from Rica, but she didn’t. It was probably for the best.
